Turning old into new

Whenever possible, the collected plastics are recycled. This further processing requires recycling companies that specialize in the plastic fraction, such as our sister company, InnoPlastics AG in Eschlikon. It specializes in LDPE, HDPE and PP plastics and processes around 40% of the household plastics collected by Bring Plastic Back.

Delivery of unmixed plastics

The plastic grades LDPE, HDPE and PP are delivered to InnoPlastics AG in Eschlikon in unmixed bales.

Shredding of plastics

The bales containing the desired types of plastic are then cut open and transported via a conveyor belt into a large shredder. This shreds the plastics into approx. 100 mm pieces. The pieces are then finely ground in the mill (post-shredding). In the end, they have a size of 20-30 mm.

Washing and separating

The shredded plastics are washed in a friction washer to remove foreign substances such as labels and food. The water is clear, contains no detergent and is used for several wash cycles.

Drying

The flakes are then dried in large blowers.

Regranulation

The clean and dried flakes are heated and processed in extruders. The result is high-quality regranulate that can be recycled again after use.

Homogenize

Large silos are used to homogenize the regrind from plastic recycling in the correct ratio for customer-specific requirements.

Storage and delivery

The finished regranulate is temporarily stored in large sacks (big bags) or silos until delivery.

Apply

The regranulate is used to make products such as packaging, cable conduits, collection bags or films that can be recycled after use.
